Dear Detectives,
As you may recall, we recently assisted landowner, Mrs. Emerson, with a series of strange crimes and a number of troubled tenants. Although her ingenious renter, Nigel Nextworth, was confident that his life’s work was being eyed by greedy strangers, it turned out that his mysterious malefactor was somebody much closer to home… his brother Harrison (and one conniving friend)! Now that we’ve helped soothe Mrs. Emerson’s Troubled Tenants and reviewed all of your entries, we are pleased to announce this mystery’s Featured Detective!
Upon first hearing of the burglary at Mrs. Emerson’s, many of those in our network of investigators looked to some of her more suspicious tenants, like Mr. Badgeworth. Others scrutinized Mrs. Emerson herself, while some turned a doubtful eye towards her neighbor, Mr. Moore– one particularly keen detective even scrutinized the officer first on the scene, Officer Blake. Yet, as the harassment followed Mr. Nextworth from his apartment to his brother Harrison’s, it became clear that an appallingly selfish plot was afoot. It was at this point that many of our collaborators’ theories began to diverge into two predominant pools: those suspecting Nigel’s competitor, Mr. Clarke, to be in cahoots with Harrison, and those correctly identifying Harrison’s old friend, Cecil Elton, as his accomplice.
Our newest Featured Detective, Detective Aubrey C. of Cupertino, CA, saw through Harrison and Mr. Elton’s plot just about as soon as Mr. Nextworth’s brother’s name was first mentioned. Of course that’s not all though, Detective Aubrey provided neatly organized professional-grade updates upon receiving every single letter pertaining to this case. On top of this, they provided formal rebuttals against arguments for all other suspects in this case, including Officer Blake.
As always, this was an incredibly difficult call to make, and there were many spectacular entries (shoutout to Detective Tanya M. for their audacious investigation of the admittedly suspicious Officer Blake), however, our winner takes the cake with their comprehensive, timely and thoughtful assessment of this whirlwind mystery.
The Dear Holmes Team congratulates Detective Aubrey C. for an outstanding job on the case – a special reward will soon be arriving at your doorstep!
